He's done bloody well for himself, partly becuase he is so versatile IMHO - you could put him on before or after the watershed and he'd still have you in fits of laughter
Yeah agreed, I expect someone in my family will want it for christmas and then we'll have it on in the background in the evening, its pretty family friendly really and the stuff that isn't the kids won't get anyway! It's not like he walks around calling people a fat c**t etc.

Is Peter Kay actually 'touring' - or just doing several nights at the MEN?
I can't remember, I think he said he was going to be doing a new tour though... he was on Radio 1 talking about it.

We watched this last night, pretty good alright - though it's not Wembley Stadium, it's Wembley Arena - We saw Pearl Jam there couple of years ago - packed that night too. But still, good job for a comic to fill it.
He's just on the right side of camp, and as you say, doesn't resort to insulting people for laughs which is refreshing. He even ignored opportunities to do so when there was some wolf whistling at one point. He just carried on unphased.
I thought he was about to get lost in his stories a couple of times, but he pulled it back together nicely. I'd prefer him to Peter Kay anyday, PK is too much of an old woman.
I take it you saw his previous dvd and all that Live at the Apollo stuff? They're also good, I like that unlike a lot of the current comedians he doesn't recycle his stuff much (if at all), some of them when you see them on Live at the Apollo or being interviewed the exact same stuff then appears on their dvds... speaking of interviews he was probably the funniest guest on Top Gear to date.
Agreed that Peter Kay can be quite old fashioned and try to appeal to older generations and families from the north a bit too much on some occasions but that's all part of his charm really, I can imagine him at home with his feet up happily watching Coronation Street and drinking "a brew" or something. He's probably a fairly boring person and not very show biz or flashy at all, which is why he is so popular, because people can easily relate to a ten minute joke about biscuits falling into their tea.
