Why does it no surprise me that a at least one of them seems to have been given a Gundam twist?

It wouldn't surprise me if a Dragonball character will have a cameo in the TOEI animation. It seems they intentionally went for the OTT DBZ fighting style. It was them who did the DB anime series.

So then, who's seen the first episode 'The Babysitter' on Halo Waypoint?

Don't want to ruin it for those who haven't yet seen it:

Spoiler (highlight to view):
Wasn't too impressed myself. Always nice to get more info on the Halo Universe, but the bratty ODST ruined it - he's meant to be a Helljumper and he's whining like a little kid (not even mentioning the fact that he's practically a midget - would he have even qualified for ODST being that small?).

And the scale of the characters seemed to change a lot. The Brute seemed to get bigger in every scene.

And the female Spartan...would long hair like that really be practical in a cramped suit of power armour?

Some of the static animation looked nice (vistas especially), but the movement seemed a bit...I dunno, a bit shoddy to me.

Hoping that the next one improves on the series.

Watched it early this morning at like 5am. I thought it was good. I like references to the books.

@PseudoDuck

yea I noticed that stuff my self but that's just the way this kind of stuff looks. There will be stuff like that though out it varying from episode to episode as each one is from a different studio.

I liked it my self, looking forward to the next one in two weeks.

God yes! :bah:

Otherwise, it's certainly wet my appetite for the rest of the series

On a side note, I'm quite intrigued by this Waypoint idea

Anyone else seen "The Duel" yet?
It's pretty disappointing. I don't like it's style. Was a bit blurry.
And my main problem was that the Female Elite didn't seem to have mandibles, looked more like a mouth, but that could've been due to the blurryness of the style... and she also had breasts and a basically human torso... seemed like they tried to make her look as attractive as possible. Also the way the Elites talked with their mandibles together wasn't like the games. Although they did flare them out when shouting.

Other than that, the basic history of the Arbiter being opposed to the Covenant and the battles scenes were good.
I would've preferred a different style (It's by IG. Why couldn't it have been more like Ghost in the Shell or their Kill Bill scene?) and their mandibles should've been more defined like in the games.

I preferred the first.

I warmed to the style, think it worked well for the battle scenes.

Quite enjoyed it - like the first not without it's flaws but still added 'something' to the series and I'll keep watching

I loved the art style. Yeah, it was blurry, but it looked like a moving watercolour. There were some shots that I would be proud to hang on my wall. I can forgive the less prominent (possibly even non-canon) mandibles. Wasn't keen on the massively oversized Hunters but the battle itself was impressively done.

Bit of a standard storyline, but it didn't stop me enjoying it. Felt it was MUCH better than the first one with the stupid little whiny ODST.

See, now that one is more like an I.G Production. I'm looking forward to that one.

Is there a new one this week? It's been 2 weeks since the last, hasn't it?

Haven't seen much of Halo Waypoint on Twitter for a while...

This week is The Package Part 1. Shame, they could've easily put it all up as one... it's like 7 minutes long. But anyway, thoughts on the episode: Best one yet.

Easily the best one we've had, it is awesome. The canon concerning the Mark VI style helmet for the chief is a bit worrying but I'll just let that slide and assume it isn't meant to be Mark VI and just a modification for a space mission.
We see the faces of 4 Spartans and one of them is Kelly! Kelly wears the EVA helmet. There are also 3 other male Spartans, 2 of them are Arthur and Solomon.

Spoiler (highlight to view):
They die.

The other one is Fred according to the wiki:
http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/The_Package
Image
(L-R) Fred, Arthur, Solomon and Kelly. (It stops before you see John thankfully)
At least the Elites are right this time. But that is not Master Chief's voice, but I can accept it since it's set when he was younger, I assume. I wish it mentioned which year it takes place in so I know where it fits into the overall story canon.

Looking forward to the 2nd part next week. :D

Yea I really liked this weeks. A few things you have to push to the side etc. I feel like they killed a lot of the Spartans off in this episode though. I assume that fits in with the cannon ok I would have to check.

But it’s by far the best one. I was not sure about how they looked at first but they all fit in well with how I would have though they looked from the books. Maybe it’s just his big head but Solomon looks a bit fat.

I think Arthur and Solomon could fit into the canon well as they could be 2 of the Spartans we've not heard about yet.
Although I haven't counted up all the augmentation survivors/those who died on Reach/missions in relation to those still left alive.

Also, only 4 days until we get to see Halo Reach properly! :D
